Who is Josefine?
Welcome to Eurostars Josefine, a unique place inspired by the figure of Josephine de Bourblanc, a young aristocrat who found refuge in Vienna while fleeing the Russian Revolution and left a fascinating mark on this hotel.
Join us on a journey to the 1920s and 30s, to the era of surrealism. Among poems, objects full of symbolism and creative encounters, Josefine transformed number 33 Esterhazygasse into a small universe of her own, filled with sensitivity, imagination and mystery.
In its lounges and corners, almost impossible scenes came to life: young actors rehearsing in the Phonothek, Dadaist poets leaving provocative words on the walls, visiting French artists, breakfasts under the stars and collages serving as welcome notes for each guest. Everything seemed to be part of a delicate and surprising staging, where every detail invited you to look beyond the obvious.
The rooms also began to fill with extraordinary stories. One guest swears that, when looked at closely, his bed is the back of a hippopotamus. Another arrives at the hotel with his prize-winning sheep and ends up calling it Josefine. An elderly woman checks in and, the next morning, wakes up transformed into a child.
Today, that magic is still alive at Eurostars Josefine. Every stay, every object and every corner preserve the spirit of that artistic and evocative universe that turned this hotel into a place out of the ordinary. Because here you don’t just stay—you become part of a story that continues to be written day after day. Always Josefine.
